Ron Paul wins Latest Zogby Poll

Filed under: Polls, Ron Paul 2008 — wisgop @ 8:06 pm

Ron Paul has won the latest nationwide Zogby Phone poll. Based on the tabular data provided by Zogby, Ron Paul took the top spot with a commanding 32.8%. Respondents were provided with descriptions of four different candidates and asked to choose who they would vote for based on each one’s attributes and political platform. 1009 people took part in the poll taken from two different categories of age groups consisting of 4 and 5 different age ranges. This methodology provides an overall view representative of all voters in America and based on a non-bias, three-question set and the typical scientific polling methodology of sampling, interviewing, weighting and sampling error, or margin of error.

Why Ron Paul has already won

Filed under: Ron Paul 2008, economics, us debt, us dollar — wisgop @ 1:43 am

The battlefield for the Republican presidential nomination has not yet established a clear winner. A few front-runners have been hailed by the usual talking heads of the conservative and mainstream media, however a few second-tier candidates continue to keep their stake in the game alive – at least until the primaries in New Hampshire and Iowa provide some real-world demographics.

Among these candidates you will find one Doctor Ron Paul, a congressman from Texas who is proudly toured by supporters as the “defender” of the Constitution.

Representative Paul’s has sent clear warnings regarding our nation’s fiscal, social, and international policy. He has attracted new crowds of supporters plus a respectable number of donors to his otherwise overlooked presidential campaign.

Today, November the 5th, Ron Paul raised over 4 million dollars in just 24 hours… that’s the new one-day fundraising record for any GOP candidate in the 2008 presidential election! …Not bad for a candidate who’s supporters are down-graded as those who purportedly wear tin-foil hats.

Unlike the typical politician, Ron Paul says what he means and he doesn’t resort to polls or focus groups to perfect his message to the people. Even if one disagrees with the extreme solutions offered by returning the Nation to the levels prescribed by the Constitution, one has to admire Paul and his supporters for their passion and dedication.

One can reasonably argue that the Ron Paul candidacy has done much good for the political dialogue within our nation. At minimum, Ron Paul has reminded the Republican Party that its roots are based on the concept of a limited-government. The other GOP candidates have adopted stronger positions, closer to this core belief only after Ron Paul’s performance.

However unlikely it may seem now, in relation to the huge challenges we will all be forced to face as a nation: the solutions offered by Dr. Ron Paul could someday be viewed by our children and grandchildren as the proper prescription if we truly wished to go forth with this form of government.

For now we are left to contemplate how the coming electoral decision shall affect an uncertain future. Whatever choice we decide, after following the campaign trail ahead, let it not be said we were not fully warned by one Dr. Ron Paul.

Why I’m Boycotting Neo-Conservative Radio

Filed under: Radio Advertising, Ron Paul 2008, neo-cons — wisgop @ 10:35 am

Today I decided that my business will not advertise on the radio. I was considering a ’special’ Ad campaign promotion that costs about sixteen hundred per month, then decided to tune in to the station in question to sample the air…

So yesterday I heard afternoon host on WISN 1130 AM in Milwaukee, Mark Belling, create an imaginary scenario straight out of a movie; millions of lives in the balance and torture is the only way to get information to save all. I don’t always agree with the radio jockeys, and I am willing to advertise somewhere if it’s an audience that I generally wish to target… however I am usually not outraged enough to change my mind and avoid all those who actually agree with the host’s position.

Belling  went on to defend water-boarding and “any other means necessary” if the lives of millions hang in the balance. Any means necessary? –  sounds like Malcolm X of the right-wing!

I may have been persuaded that - should such a situation occur, and that’s a huge IF because it assumes a movie-like scenario where a clock may be ticking and the same folks who couldn’t stop 911 have someone in custody - well IF that happened then maybe I could have been persuaded that president would possibly be justified in BREAKING the law at his or her own peril – and by going ahead with torture (in order to save those millions of lives) this nation’s commander-in-chief risks his or her own personal liberty and authorizes torture (breaks the law) and must be willing to resign or face whatever charges necessary once this hypothetical disaster is resolved.

Perhaps the next president will pardon the president who is forced to make such a decision, but that’s not the screenplay Mr Belling was reading from. He was definitely advocating for torture ‘exceptions’ which need to be part of the written playbook and fully allowed by the law. Oh really Mark? And just who is to say the use of torture will not be used against everyday citizens?

This cannot and should not be a part of policy or the law, as the exceptions will undoubtedly be used in scenarios where millions of lives are not in jeopardy. Once we give government the right to do a bad thing in limited scenarios, then the line is slowly moved until that bad thing can happen to any of us, any time, anywhere.

Sure, there could be a disaster. Sure, we need to protect the homeland from terrorists.

We can avert such a disaster in the future by pulling out of the middle east and changing our foreign policy. We can avert the hatred against America and what we stand for by standing up for the constitution of the USA as our country’s forefathers intended it – peace and trade with all, entangling alliances and intervention with none unless a war is declared by congress.

If the surreal scenario of a nuke does happen on US soil it will be because of our foreign policy, neo-conservatives, and the policy of ’creative destruction’ that we as the American Empire have allowed our leaders to inflict upon the middle east (meanwhile bankrupting the nation and killing the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency).

I’m sick of talk radio supporting neo-conservative policies which doom our nation. Until there is a new radio show in where my (falling) US Ad Dollar is able to support those who are standing up for the constitution, I’m making a business decision to take my Ad dollar elsewhere in the hopes that others will follow.

De-Federalizing Government with Dr. Ron Paul

Filed under: Ron Paul 2008, Wisconsin — wisgop @ 4:48 am

In what I felt to be an eerie coincidence, Jay Leno On the Tonite Show October 30thasked Ron Paul “What about roads, libraries, etc” right before the Sex Pistols sang about Anarchy … It seems that those untrained in the scientific philosophy that drives Ron Paul (and many libertarians) is not always understood by those used to the large size of government.

An issue which concerns many of those who are working for freedom thru the Ron Paul campaign is that of defederalizing government to bring it back into alignment with the Constitution and ensure transparency. Application of Dr. Paul’s Political-Science (much like his practice as a doctor) could result in some of these actions upon the body-politic:

1) Examination: A doctor will look at the major structures of the body – skeletal, muscular, lymph nodes, etc. Ron Paul is not in favor of anarchy nor would a good doctor attempt to remove any necessary portions of a patient’s body imperative to sustain life!

2) Re-hab: It appears from recent speeched that Doctor Paul will attempt to wean the body-politic addictions to spending rather than force a cold-turkey recovery. That’s good news for those concerned about the social security check or medicare program!

3) Take X-rays: Government should not hide behind closed doors. The Federal Reserve, Executive privileges, Signing regional treaties… there seems to be a lack of transparency in the current government and the people would like to know what’s going on inside. Any dark spots should have some bright light shone upon them immediately!

4) Surgery: The good doctor will perform emergency surgery to remove only the most dangerous and unnecessary and bloated portions of government in the short-term which will not threaten the life of the body-politic.

5) Amputation: End the war in Iraq now, bring the troops home. The urge to protect our “homeland” has resulted in a state where we are less secure than before 9-11.

6) Recommend Exercise: Any good doctor knows he or she cannot force the patient to exercise, even when the patent’s life is in danger.  Ron Paul supporters need to know that this is just the beginning and they will be called upon to implement local solutions in their own communities once he is elected.

Drastically reducing the size and scope of the Federal Government - that’s going to take a heck of a lot of work, advocacy, and understanding from all facets of the body-politic in order to make this work so the system is strong again. The doctor can’t do it all for us so we have to take the responsibility.

Wisconsin is a state where we feel we are over-taxed and many of us feel we are over-weight…  I for one have got to start exercising in order to loose that beer-belly.

Military Contributions in 2008 Presidential Campaign:

Filed under: Hillary, Ron Paul 2008 — wisgop @ 11:34 pm

Ron Paul is currently the highest recipient of political contributions from individual members of America’s military. Wow.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton has become the highest recipient of political contributions from America’s weapons’ manufacturers. Now that’s interesting, Hillary Clinton will expand the role of government and possibly continue Bush’s US imperialism.

Mark Belling says Ron Paul is a “Whack Job”

Filed under: Ron Paul 2008, Uncategorized — wisgop @ 11:11 pm

Mark Belling is a Milwaukee Wisconsin talk radio jock (and a guest host of the Rush Limbaugh show) who recently declared Republican Candidate for President Ron Paul as a ”whack job” and then went on to elaborate his support for Rudy Giuliani. It was pretty hilarious to hear Belling predict that conservative Christians are so concerned with the war on terror that they will overlook Rudy’s record on issues which make Christians sick to their stomach.

Nobody’s perfect, let’s argue whether or not some types of imperfection are preferable to other types. I’ll take Paul’s side and agree that extreme cuts in government are preferable to the maintenance of the current size of government due to the wars.

I guess the real question is WHO is the real whack-job; those who dare use the unfortunate events of 9-11 to grow this US Emire or those who are prepared to go back to the constitutional size of the Federal government?

Add this ignorant position and slur upon Ron Paul to the list (is there a list now?) of Belling’s brash statements driven by the man’s conviction that he is always correct.

Time has a way of unravelling things and perhaps he’ll warm up to the idea of limited government someday!

Pluralistic ignorance

Filed under: Ron Paul 2008, social psychology — wisgop @ 5:46 pm

Pluralistic ignorance; is what happens when True Republicans stand around and act like they support Rudy, Fred or Mike – all those candidates endorse by the MSM (Mainstream Media) instead of disagreeing and supporting a candidate such as Ron Paul who better reflects the true core Republican values.

“Pluralistic ignorance is a process which involves several members of a group who think that they have different perceptions, beliefs, or attitudes from the rest of the group. While they do not endorse the group norm, the dissenting persons behave like the other group members, because they think that the behavior of the other group members shows that the opinion of the group is unanimous. In other words, because everyone who disagrees behaves as if he or she agrees, all dissenting members think that the norm is endorsed by every group member but themselves. This in turn reinforces their willingness to conform to the group norm rather than express their disagreement. Because of pluralistic ignorance, people may conform to the perceived consensual opinion of a group, instead of thinking and acting on their own perceptions.” – From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pluralistic_ignorance

Keep the presses printing!

Filed under: Politics, Ron Paul 2008, economics, us debt, us dollar — Tags: , , , , — wisgop @ 8:46 pm

Here are related issues which can accurately be called ‘elephants in the living room’ of our U.S. government; I believe that only Ron Paul has the correct approach required to tackle these issues of mounting importance… the US National Debt and the value of the dollar.

At 9 Trillion the US Debt is getting to the point where only massive inflation of the US dollar may correct the current course (IE: pay back the debt with dollars that are worth a lot less than the value at the time this money was borrowed). This is due in part to our voting record as citizens, and the spending habits of US politicians especially in the last decade. What does a central bank do to keep the nation’s Federal Government afloat? Print money, lots of money…

Speaking of printing presses… the falling U.S. dollar has seen a few headlines in the news recently, perhaps because the financial markets and Wall Street pay close attention to the value of the dollar. The recent downward trend of the dollar could be the tip of a very large iceberg, but you won’t read that in the newspapers.

The press seems reluctant to report on the minor Republican candidates like Ron Paul, and the long-term threats which could unravel our country’s economic system. The recent increase in the ceiling of the US Debt, for example… just  type “9.815 trillion” in Google under the “news” listings … only 4 entries for the new US debt ceiling… I guess we in the US would rather hear about Britney Spears than issues which effect future generations?

Perhaps we don’t hear much about “debt monetization” outside of Macro Economic courses (or fringe-right circles) because we need a crisis to wake us up? These are issues we may want to pay attention to because they will definitely have a much larger impact than the recent “sub-prime financial crisis” that we’ve all heard so much about in the news recently. I hope I’m wrong however I’m a bit of a futurist so mark my words on this.

What will happen if (or when) China, Russia, and perhaps other countries abandon the dollar in favor of, say, the Euro? It’s like a financial ‘bomb’ that will shake our nation.  (see http://wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=57936 )

A good indicator of where we are headed financially is that one of the economic indicators is missing! The Federal Reserve has stopped publishing a “key economic indicator” of the total money supply, known as M3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money_supply  (I will write more on this later as I am taking one more Macro economics course in December).

Why would they (the Fed) desire to end the disclosure of M3 numbers? Likely it’s due to monetization of the debt, which increases the money supply reported in M3. If this is happening as many suspect, we will know because it will be followed by higher prices ( a symptom of inflation)  http://www.gillespieresearch.com/cgi-bin/bgn/article/id=712

In doing research on the reasons for the Fed no longer collecting / reporting M3 data… I was pleased to find that Ron Paul has already been working on this same issue! He introduced H.R. 4892 [109th] Sunshine in Monetary Policy Act: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h109-4892the

What’s it going to take to get those who run the printing presses at the newspapers to roll out the real news? We the people need to elect a new type of leader – one who is equipped to handle these threats, and won’t back down, and won’t let our economy fall into disarray, we need Ron Paul.

Ron Paul 2008 – Hope for the Future

I’m very excited that there’s finally a candidate I can believe in.  A candidate who’s consistent with his answers.  A candidate who’s morals command the utmost respect.  A candidate who has a ‘perfect voting record’ according to many conservatives – yet holds true to the principles of limited government on moral issues. A candidate who tilts at windmills – with a never-say-die attitude – and holds a belief in the principles set forth by our nation’s founding forefathers.  This candidate is of course, none other than Ron Paul.

All of us looking to GOP candidates other than Ron Paul for our next presidential hopeful – can we stop and ask ourselves… are we better off without the solutions proposed by Ron Paul? Do we need the IRS, Department of Homeland Security, FDA, Federal Reserve, and so on and so forth? Are you happy playing politics in the new “Rome” or will we avert disaster and re-establish a new golden age by rejecting the notion that big government is not an instrument of enslavement? Certainly, if the U.S.A. has become a ghostly vestige of our former self, and former idealistic principles – than Ron Paul returns us to youth and freedom.

The energies of this site are officially focused on the only security which we can leave to future generations…  that security is available by the ideas and ideals which have this one chance of fruition through the election of Ron Paul as our nation’s next commander in chief.  Stay Tuned for more thoughts, web links, video, and events from this website. - Corey - WisGOP.com Blogger
