The GOTV section can be improved with the following comment:

The poll assumes that 1282 out of 1895 voters are certain to vote. That is a 68% voter turnout. I don't think the voter turnout in a primary will be anywhere near 68%.

Wonderful post and excellent point.

I have made a similar point in the past concerning "search warrants" -- IF a police officer believes there actually exists one of those 1-in-a-billion "Hollywood" scenarios of an IMMINENT DEADLY threat, then he is both "justified" and "responsible" to act, regardless of the consequences to his own career, to the possible "legality" of the act, etc.

Then he/she should be willing to face charges before a Jury -- with CONFIDENCE that they will justify his actions by acquittal.

But there is NO NEED to revise law down to the point that a police officer can "write his own warrant" on a whim. Responsible people are WILLING to be held ACCOUNTABLE. They do not cower behind secrecy and "movie-land" paranoid propaganda.

So kudos for driving the point home!

Bravo. Way to take a stand.

I sometimes feel like the Republican candidates (Ron Paul the exception, of course, and on this issue, McCain) watch the t.v. show 24 and think it's a documentary.

The entire idea that we're even having a debate about waterboarding makes me sick to my stomach.

A great analogy piece! Interesting and fun to read. However, let's get serious about cutting taxes by cutting spending. Let's start with subsidies for agriculture! Most of this money goes to big-time operators; very little to
the small family farm guy; there are few of these family farmers left anyways.
Then let's stop ALL "earmarks" where local interests in communities everywhere PRESSURE their own Congressmen to GET some money for their special community projects. If local people won't "pony up" for such projects, they really are NOT as vital as some people say.l
FINALLY, let's get rid of most of the BIG PORK BILLS for military equipment that even the Department of Defense doesn't want, e.g the Raptor fighter, the Osprey support fighter for the USMC, a brand-new and very expensive new type of Navy submarine that we really don't need. Fifty years ago, Dwight Eisenhower warned us about the military-industrial consortium that would (and STILL DOES) keep producing a lot of super-duper style weapons that we really don't need. . . BUT THE INDUSTRIES THAT PRODUCE THEM NEED TO STAY IN BUSINESs!
Of course, cut a lot of these wasteful military-spending projects and the local folks where these items are produced will scream bloody murder because they will lose their jobs or have to develop new products, services and build new markets. So, they run to their Congressman and say, "Save our town; keep our businesses and industries producing MILITARY HARDWARE that's not really necessary.
Let's face it. We are ALL ADDICTTED TO THE BIG BUCKS FROM WASHINGTON!!! It will be really painful for a while as those "subsidies" are reduced and eventually ended. Just like overweight people hate dieting (cutting off Federal fundsd) and exercising (developing new markets), EVERYBODY who's invovled will bitch long and hard to their Congressman. And, wanting to stay in office and enjoy all the money and perks that go with the job, the Congress will AGAIN give in and keep giving us what we really don't need.
WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY. . . AND HE IS US!!!!!

This is such a terrific reminder of our constitution and what it stands for. We learn about this in school never to really focus on it again. It is time to be reminded of our history and what this country stands for. We need change and we need it in a major way. I want to feel proud to be an American instead of embarrassed. As a people, we need to take control and think about who we elect to represent and govern us. I want to believe that Ron Paul can be that person to bring us back to those noble principals we learned about so long ago.

Nice job on the graphic!

I don't think we will be able to stop this unless people act now. How do we motivate the people when they would rather hear about OJ and Britney Spears in the news and the media focuses only on the '1st tier' candidates giving them hundreds of millions of dollars of high-level FREE promotion on the airwaves?

It's very long term - a long way off. There's still plenty of time to stop this sort of nonsense.
